Thank you! It is amazing how quickly the kids pick up on running and it seems so much easier for them then us. I hope your soon finds a good 5K that is kid-friendly - 12 is a perfect running age. I also wish that ALL races would provide a medal to ALL kids under 16 that run...medals are so cheap and I think it would greatly motivate them to continue running!

Great post and recap of running with your daughter. I love it! My 12-year-old son wanted to run a 5K with me over the winter, so we trained just a few times before going out on a chilly March Sunday. I have to admit that I struggled, knowing that I wouldn't hit a personal record or even faster than 23 minutes. But it was so worth it to watch him achieve something so awesome by never stopping once, despite the obvious struggle. And I was proud to coach him to run the tangents and encourage him. It was a great, incredible experience. He's going for XC this fall, and I'm looking forward to training with him this summer before the official team practices start.

Thanks Jessica! I just accepted my ITBS fate this week and got my foam roller in the mail this afternoon - I found some stretches online that I'm going to try. This injury is really been the worse in my 19 years running. And I am having a hard time not letting it get me down...especially with the weather!!

IT Band issues are tough but they are usually easy to manage. Foam roll, foam roll and foam roll some more. It is not fun but relieves so much pressure. Then google some hip opener stretches. Good luck. Injuries stink!

Had followed your blog in the past and then when my computer crashed...I lost my favorite blog sites...stumbled upon some photo's Jeff posted and finally placed why he looked so familiar...ahh reunited with this blog. LOVE IT! Think it was your blog post re:basement remodel with the treadmills that really hooked me! Congrats on finishing yesterday...hope you are on the mend. The course wasn't what I had expected. I guess I overlooked the course description with more attention focused on the access code. Ice and rest, I assume, are your best friends this week....Have you decided if you will register for the full? It will be my first full....already signed up/hotel booked! I have 2 training partners in PA who also did the 17.75K and one more hoping to get in come Wed.

I was a bit worried that the person who took our photo didn't take a good one. She seemed a little inconvenienced by us. :)

Anyway, again it was great to meet you. I hope we can cross paths again for longer than a few minutes!
