Getting My Mind Ready for Philly…

I knew Jeff wanted to do a long marathon training run this morning, so I opted to hit the treadmill while he headed out to hit the road just before sunrise. Samantha was fast asleep when I hopped on and tuned to a movie I previously recorded…I’m fresh out of reality TV at the moment.  I love my new Landice L8 treadmill and really must say that I enjoy treadmill running much more now than I did with my old treadmill. I still, yes still, have a monitor on my sleeping 7 year old so I glanced at the monitor from time to time to make sure she was still sleeping. I don’t feel great and in shape for the Philly RnR ½ next weekend – so I needed a fairly decent run to put my mind in the game. I’ve had a strange knee issue for over a month and I baby it sometimes which hurts my training – I just need to get through the ½ and then can rest it…wow, spoken just like a runner. I started out at an 8:13 pace for about 5 miles and then picked it up. By the time I saw a little person stirring on the monitor I was already at 8.75 miles. She got dressed and came down to check on me. She informed me that I could keep running and she would play the iPad a game of chess – thank you iPad! I was able to run a few miles at a sub-8:00 pace which really helped me mentally. I didn’t plan to run 10 miles when I started, but I did – and I feel so much better about Philly next weekend! Bring it on!
