Jeff’s Post – Finally Some Progress!

It seems like forever since I’ve had a good run but I feel like I may be turning the corner a bit.  My shin is still far from 100% but honestly it begins to feel better the more I run so for the moment that is my plan.  I also plan on more longer runs on the treadmill to try to protect my shin.  I realize I will have to add some long runs on the pavement but I see a 20 mile treadmill run in my future.  This morning I ran 13 on the treadmill (my longest run since the Annapolis ½) and I feel pretty good.  I’ve been adding a few more miles per week as I’ve tried to get back in the swing of things.  I had 37 miles last week and hope to get 40 in this week.  Shamrock is getting here quick and that is always on my mind but who knows for once I may reach a marathon not exhausted and may actually finish strong!  I’m also enjoying the Elliptimill.  I eventually want to add some doubles with it but for now it has been my Friday workout.  I definitely come off that thing sweating more and more winded than when I run.  I’m already feeling the cardio benefits.

I do have a few races before Shamrock that I’ve thrown in for fun.  I signed up for my first trail ½ marathon in Fredericksburg.  I’m really looking forward to the challenge of the trail.  Tamara and I also signed up for a Sweetheart Couples 4 miler in a few weeks.  I’m hoping we can run that one fast!

We finally got some snow in Southern Maryland which was nice for a change.  We had a fun weekend in the snow but I”m ready for some warmer weather!

Happy Running!

  1. Glad to see you making some progress back to 100%. Don’t rush it – now’s a great time just to enjoy the runs and do the races for something other than a PR!
