Jeff’s Post – Wow – Is This How the Other Half Lives!

I’m in the midst of another taper and this one really feels different from the one I had about a month ago.  When I was preparing for my first marathon the taper week freaked me out a bit.  I didn’t really embrace it.  I was nervous about my upcoming race, I was nervous about my reduced mileage.  I guess looking back I was a bit more of a wreck than I originally thought.  But you know it all worked out and I became a Marathoner!

Fast forward a few weeks and I’m in the midst of taper #2.  This morning I slept in, answered some work emails, cleaned up a few things around the house and found time to write this post.  Wow, I’ve been running hours almost every morning since January.  I guess this morning I’m finding out how the other half lives.  Don’t interpret this the wrong way, I’m a runner and need to run.  If I don’t run I tend to be in a bit of a funk all day so I’m not changing my ways but I have decided to embrace my taper.

I’m starting to really get excited about Richmond.  I’m still a bit nervous.  My legs have felt tired the last couple weeks so I’m taking some extra rest this week.  I’m working hard mentally this week to head to “The Zone”.  I want to be in “The Zone” on Saturday.

Have a great day and if you are in the midst of a taper – embrace it!
